Global Fintech Fest 2026: Dates, Theme, Agenda and What to Expect at GFF in Mumbai
The seventh edition of GFF lands at Jio World Centre from 8 to 11 September 2026, with agentic AI, tokenisation and quantum on the marquee. Here is what is happening, who is showing up, and how to actually get value out of the four days.
What is GFF, and why does the whole industry block off September for it?
GFF started in 2020 as a virtual event during the pandemic. Six years later it has become the fixture that the Indian financial services calendar bends around. Regulators use it to signal direction. Banks use it to announce things. Founders use it to raise. And roughly a hundred thousand people show up at BKC to have the conversations that would otherwise take nine months of scheduling.
What makes GFF different from the average fintech conference is who sits in the room. The RBI Governor, the Finance Minister, the SEBI Chairman and the heads of India's largest public sector banks are not video messages here. They are on stage, taking questions, and often making news. In 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered the keynote alongside UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Press reports say the Prime Minister is expected to address GFF for a third consecutive year in 2026.
That mix of regulator, incumbent and challenger in one venue is the reason a booth at GFF behaves differently from a booth anywhere else. The person who walks up to you can approve your pilot.
GFF 2026 at a glance
The GFF 2026 theme: Potential to Impact
Every GFF has a theme, and most years it is a polite abstraction. This one is a little sharper. The full framing is Potential to Impact: Trusted, Connected, Global Systems for Inclusive Finance, and the organisers have been unusually direct about what they mean by it. The industry has spent five years running proofs of concept. The question for 2026 is which of them survive contact with production, regulation and scale.
Three technologies carry the theme. The organisers describe them together as a new financial operating stack, one that is more intelligent, more programmable and more secure than what banks run today.
Agentic AI is the pillar with the shortest runway
Of the three, agentic AI is the one already in production. Tokenisation is moving from pilot to policy. Quantum is a ten year hedge that treasury and security teams have to start planning for now. But agentic AI is the pillar where a bank can point at a live deployment, a number on a dashboard, and a compliance file that a regulator has already reviewed.
Sohini Rajola, Executive Director at NPCI, framed the convergence of the three as producing a financial operating stack that is more intelligent, programmable and secure. In practice, for most institutions attending GFF 2026, the intelligent part is the one with a budget line attached this financial year.
The GFF 2026 agenda, day by day
The agenda runs across four days, and they are not interchangeable. Day one is a different event from the other three.
The practical implication: if you are attending on a standard delegate pass, your event is three days long, not four. Plan the ninth for keynotes and positioning, the tenth for meetings, and the eleventh for the awards and whatever you did not finish on the tenth.
The 11 tracks at GFF 2026
Content is organised into eleven tracks. Reading them tells you roughly where the industry's attention has moved since last year, and it is worth scanning even if you only care about two of them.
Two of those are newer arrivals and worth noting. Rural economic empowerment reflects where the next hundred million financial services customers actually live, which is Tier 3 India and beyond. Global capability centres reflect how much of the world's financial technology now gets built in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune rather than London or New York.
What happens outside the keynote stage
The main stage gets the cameras. Most of the useful stuff happens elsewhere.
Hackathons with institutions attached
GFF 2026 hosts a set of hackathons run by actual institutions rather than sponsors looking for logos. The public sector bank hackathon series covers generative AI and cybersecurity, SBI is running an agentic AI hackathon, SEBI has a securities market TechSprint, and NABARD has its own track. The distinction that matters: these come with implementation pathways, not just prize money.
Pitch for Scale
Run in partnership with CIIE.CO, with separate early stage and growth stage tracks. With 400 plus investors expected in the building, this is the closest thing Indian fintech has to a single window for capital.
Bharat AI Zone
A curated showcase of Indian AI fintech companies under the Token Nxt banner, with room for around twenty firms. If you want to see what is being built domestically rather than imported, this is the shortest path.
Global Fintech Awards
Now in its fifth edition with more than twenty categories, held on the closing day.
GFF India: why the location is the point
It would be easy to read GFF as India's version of Money20/20 or Singapore Fintech Festival. That undersells what is going on. India is the only market where a country scale digital public infrastructure stack, a regulator willing to move quickly, and a billion plus population of first generation digital financial services users all exist at once. UPI, Aadhaar, account aggregator and ONDC did not get built in a lab. They got built in production, at volumes nobody else has had to handle.
That is why central bankers from Seychelles, Zimbabwe, Georgia, Mauritius and Malawi come to Mumbai, and why the Bank for International Settlements, Banque de France, Bank of England, the SEC and J.P. Morgan send people. They are not here to teach. They are here to look at what happens when a financial system is rebuilt at scale, in public, with regulators in the room.
For anyone building financial technology for emerging markets, GFF India is the room where the reference implementation lives.
Passes, and who should actually go
Who gets the most out of it: founders raising or partnering, BFSI product and operations leaders with a mandate to ship something this year, risk and compliance heads who want to hear the regulator's framing directly, investors, and technology teams working on AI, payments infrastructure or security.
Who gets the least out of it: anyone who turns up without a target list. A hundred thousand people is not a networking opportunity, it is a crowd. The people who do well at GFF book their meetings before they arrive.
Gnani.ai at GFF 2026
Gnani.ai is a partner at Global Fintech Fest 2026, and we will be on the floor for all three delegate days.
You will find us at Pavilion Hall, Booths V12 to V15, which is four adjoining booths rather than one, because we would rather have room for a real conversation than a queue. Our CEO, CTO, Chief Business Officer and VP of Marketing and Sales are all attending, so the people you meet at the booth are the people who can make a decision on the spot.
What we want to talk about
Given the 2026 theme, agentic AI in financial services is the obvious conversation, and it is the one we have the most scar tissue on. Gnani.ai builds voice AI for BFSI, in Indian languages, for the kind of call volumes that break most systems. Collections, borrower verification, customer servicing and onboarding, on phone lines that are noisy, in languages that are code mixed, with customers who switch from Hindi to English mid sentence.
The problems we hear most often from banks, NBFCs and insurers are fairly consistent:
- Connection rates keep falling: The same borrower list produces fewer conversations every quarter, and adding headcount stopped fixing it a while ago.
- Tier 3 and beyond is underserved: The customers are there. The language coverage and the cost per contact are not.
- Compliance cannot be an afterthought: Anything touching collections or customer data has to work inside RBI, IRDAI, TRAI and DPDP Act constraints, with audit trails that survive an inspection.
- Pilots that never graduate: Plenty of AI proofs of concept look good in a demo and fall over at production volume.
If any of that is on your plate for this financial year, come find us. We would rather show you a live system than a slide.
